Orecchiette with Broccoli and Bacon

DSC_0555

Last night I got off from work pretty late and when I got home I didn’t really have anything to make dinner with. In the fridge I just had a few slides of bacon and a bag of broccoli. The result is this dish! My boyfriend liked it, hope you guys will too.

The pasta I have used is called “orecchiette” which means “small ears”, as their shape resemble that of cute, small ears. They are ideal for this dish, since they collect the sauce in their scoop. If you are not able to find this type of pasta, you can just use and other short kind.

You will also need to use some pecorino cheese that you can buy at City Shop (68 yuan).

Here is the recipe :)

Ingredients (for 2 servings):

  • 1 bunch of broccoli –
  • 5 slides of bacon – 5
  • 1/4 onion – 1/4
  • 2 tbsp olive oil – 2
  • 1/4 cup grated pecorino cheese – 2
  • Black pepper and salt –

Chop the onion and place it in a pan with oil. (you might also want to add a couple spoon  of water to allow the onion to sweat without burning)

It’s strange that your orecchiette looks like a mixture of two different types of pasta. Is the other one trofie or sth like that?

By the way, the translation of pecorino in Chinese is not “帕尔马干酪”. “帕尔马干酪” is Parmiggiano. I don’t know how to translate pecorino though, it’s not popular at all in China.

ah, forgot to say, your blog looks quite nice. I like it.
