Butterfly cookie is a recipe that I’ve seen my grandma made a thousands times when I was a little kid. On a Sunday morning she used to spend hours carefully preparing the puff pastry, then fold it and cut it in the shape of small, cute, little butterflies. I LOVED IT!
This Saturday morning I woke up and I was just craving her delicious, crispy cookies so I decided to challange myself and give it a try! I called my mom and had her remind me step by step the recipe.
Here is what I have got
I’ll give you the recipe for making the puff pastry in a separate post, because we will use it to prepare different dishes and in this way it will be easier for you to find it when you will need it. While if you don’t want to spend too much time in the kitchen you can just buy the puff pastry on Smartdirect.cn (38 yuan).
- 1 roll of puff pastry
On a surface sprinkle some sugar
Lay the puff pastry and again sprinkle sugar on top.
Fold each side of the rectangle into 2 parts, as in picture.
Sprinkle more sugar. Fold again each half over itself so that they fit together.
Then fold together the 2 half.
Place the pastry in the fridge for about 15 min. The cut it into pieces of 1 cm each. Sprinkle more sugar.
Bake in pre-heat over for about 15 min.
