If you ask me what is the thing I like cooking the most I would respond with no hesitation BREAD!
I definitely prefer baking to normal cooking, I can’t explain why, pies, cakes, muffins, pizza, breads…I know, I am weird that way…
I also love waking up early in the morning, in the quite of my house, with the kitchen all for myself and experimenting with new recipes. This is something I do on average every Sunday mornings, it’s relaxing.
Last Sunday I made this Sunflower seeds bread and I loved it!
You can find sunflowers everywhere, even Carrefour sells them, and as for the flax seeds listed among the ingredients, if you live in China, try look on Taobao.
Ingredients (for one loaf):
- 2- 1/2 cup of bread flour
- 2 tbsp instant yeast
- 1 cup lukewarm water
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1/2 cup toasted sunflower seeds
- 1/2 cup flax seeds
- 1 cup oats
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
Dissolve yeast in about 1 cup of lukewarm water, let sit for a few minutes
In a bowl of your electric mixer place flour, salt and oats
With you mixer on low speed pour in the yeast/water mixture
Then grab some sunflower seeds and add them to the bowl
Next add 1/2 cup of flax seeds
2 tbsp of honey
and the melted butter
Keep mixing adding a couple tbsp of flour if the dough is too sticky. When you’ve got a nice and soft dough, turn off the mixer and place it in a slightly grease bowl. Cover with a towel and let rise for about 2 hours.
Here we go…
Now roll out the dough onto a slightly flour surface into a rectangular shape
Starting from one edge, roll the dough all the way to the other end. and place the loaf into a bread pan that you’ve previously greased with butter
Cover with plastic wrap and let sit for about 1 hour
Now bake you bread at 180 C for about 50 minutes or until nice and golden-brown
Let it cool down then cut into slices
Perfect for breakfast with butter and jam!
