Last Sunday I woke up craving cinnamon…don’t ask me why. I’m random this way…
When I crave some food I just have to get it, no matter what I need to do, or I’d just feel horribly depressed and sad …
I’m not joking…I swear!
Now, a few days ago I saw this recipe on Tasty Kitchen for delicious sugar cinnamon biscuits and because they were very easy to make, looked tasty and I was craving cinnamon I decided to give it a shot.
The original recipe didn’t call for sugar in the dough, ….
NO SUGAR IN THE THOUGH???
Yes, that’s what I said…why are you yelling?
well, don’t worry, my sweet tooth didn’t allow that and forced me to add 1/4 cup granulated sugar to the dough
The result?
A M A Z I N G!
This biscuit are the best served with some ice cream or with a warm cup of milk.
This is how you make them!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup sugar (for the dough)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup milk
- plenty of cinnamon
In a bowl combine flour, 1/4 cup sugar and salt
grab 1/4 cup of shortening
add it to the flour and mix with a fork until it is all cut in
Add the vanilla extract
and slowly pour in the milk
Mix with a fork until you get a very soft and smooth dough
Roll out the dough onto a slightly floured surface. Make it about half cm thick
Melt the butter and spread it onto the dough
sprinkle the sugar
and plenty of cinnamon
PLENTY!
Using a cookie cutter, well…cut into rounds…of course…
Place the rounds onto parcement paper
Bake at 200 C for abour 18-20 min. Let them cool down then serve!
I’ve tried these with ice cream, making like an ice cream sandwitch and they were divine!
Absolutely amazing even with a simple cup of warm milk tho
Give this a shot!
