I don’t know since when but right now I seem to be the reference point for many of my friends that want to loose weight and stay fit! They come to me and ask for advices on how to eat healthy and what kind of workout to do to. Some of them have even started training with me!
I am currently helping one of my girl friend to put together a balance diet for her to follow in order to loose a couple of kgs and while I was looking at nutritional contents and fat %, carbs, protein and I started thinking on how many of my readers might struggle to keep a fit and healthy body and at the same time enjoy some nice and tasty food..I think most of us do!
Thus I decided to put together an alternative recipe for making bread, create something that would be rich in protein but low in fats and carbs and this is what I have made: a whey protein bread!
Instead of using normal flour I’ve got oats flour and coconut powder and I have mixed them with protein powder and flaxseeds
I LOVELY BREAD! and I have in fact decided to use this basic recipe to make healty muffins, cookies and cakes so that we can enjoy food without feeling guilty or worried that our jeans will not fit anymore!
Ingredients (make one loaf of bread):
- 3/4 cup (100 g) oats flour
- 1/2 cup coconut powder
- 2 tbsp flaxseeds
- 2 scoops protein powder (vanilla flavour)
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 cup egg whites
- 125 g fat free yogurt
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp oats
In a bowl combine all the dry ingredients (oats flour, coconut powder, protein powder, flaxseeds and baking powder)
Prepare 1 cup of egg whites
Add the yogurt to the egg whites and mix to incorporate
then pour the wet ingredients into the dry one
and mix until you get a sticky batter
Pour the batter into a bread loaf pan that you have prevousy greased with olive oil
then sprinkle the top with about 2 tbsp od oats
and bake at 200 C for about 35- 40 min. Remove from the oven, let the bread cool down
then slice it up and serve it!
