RECOVERY! – Post Workout Smoothie!

The complete post-workout drink! Potassium from banana to help restore your muscles, lots of fibers and manganese from the oats, healthy fats from the hemp milk, vitamin C from the mango and extra recovery booster from the collagen powder.

I have only recently started to incorporate collagen to my diet. This superfood has a tremendous number of benefits for your body and can really help recover faster from an intense workout. It will help you get stronger bones and joints, your muscles will recover quickly and you will be overall less prone to injuries!

You can add a scoop of collagen powder too your morning java, sprinkle it in your oatmeal, or pop it in pill form — whatever you decide to do, there’s no denying taking collagen after a workout can do wonders for your body.



Collagen also happens to be a complete protein found in the connective tissue of animals. It’s basically the glue that holds all mammals’ bodies together, and it’s rich in a myriad of essential amino acids. The gelatinous substance is also produced in humans — but only to a certain extent. As you age, collagen is used up faster than the rate at which your body can produce it, and that imbalance only gets larger if you exercise on the reg.

This smoothie has become my regular post-workout drink. I just make it before going to the gym and then sip on it on my way to work when im done with my exercise. Besides the health benefits of collagen, this smoothie also provide potassium from the banana, vitamin C from the mango, healthy fats from the hemp seeds and coconut oil and lots of fiber and manganese from the oats!

Ingredients (makes 1 male-size smoothie or 2 female-size one):

  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/3 cup hemp heart seeds
  • 1/3 cup diced frozen mango
  • 1/2 small banana
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • a dash of ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup gluten-free oats
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp collagen powder

Let’s start from making some hemp milk, which, BTW, is super simple and SUPER TASTY!

In a blender place 2 cups of filtered water and 1/3 cup of hemp seeds, blend on high speed until smooth

Add in the oats

half a banana, 1/2 cup of diced frozen mango, a dash of cinnamon, 1 tbsp of maple syrup, coconut oil and 1 tbsp collagen powder

Blend all the ingredients together until smooth

Pour into a glass and enjoy!
